Urban Sunset Garden

Urban Sunset Garden reimagines a compact Somerville backyard into an organic, highly personal outdoor room designed for everyday living, hosting, cooking, and quiet moments outside. After earlier construction left the yard as a blank slate, Curbs Studio helped translate the clients’ vision into a layered design with distinct areas for dining, grilling, lounging, planting, and gathering, using Goshen stone, resin-bound peastone, pavers, wood privacy fencing, landscape lighting, and a custom bench wall to create a space that feels natural, relaxed, and intentional. Thoughtful details like the herb garden, Japanese maple, sculptural accents, soft planting, and sunset-facing seating make the garden feel like an extension of the home’s living room — a place for coffee, dinner with friends, cooking with fresh herbs, and enjoying the evening light.
